Corn Maize in Hondo
Does anyone know about a corn maize in Hondo or somewhere out that way? Is it worth the trip? The money? Would a toddler enjoy it? Is there a pumpkin patch? If not, where do locals go to pick pumpkins and maybe a hayride? That is something we always did in Delaware and I'm hoping to find a place in this area.

I went last year and I got lost in the maize OMG, it was dark, we had flashlights but mine was on the blink of course. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to get out. I was fixing to cut through the corn and I heard one of the workers yelling at someone else "DON'T CUT THROUGH THE CORN"
I would go again, there is alot to do there. It is in Hondo, just go down Hwy 90 and it is just before you get into the town of Hondo on your left, you can't miss the signs.
Here is the website and you can get some sort of coupon here too:

My dd's preschool had a field trip out there last year and we went along. It's fun for the kids but be sure if you have little ones to go during the day and to go to the little kids maze. We did only half of the little kids maze and it took awhile. The kids got kinda burnt out near the end. They do have people posted along the way to help you along though. The maze is not easy! There are also a bunch of things for the kids to play on outside of the maze itself so it's not limited to that.

I've always wondered about this too, mabye we will try it this year.
Definitely check out Love Creek Orchards http://www.lovecreekorchards.com/076...%20proof-2.htm. We've gone the last three years and always have a great time. They have the best storyteller there if it is the same guy again. Try to pick a day when it isn't so hot or you'll really be pining away for the Northeast.

I think you mean, Maze. For a second there I thought you were saying the same thing in English and in Spanish.

Thanks for the responses, folks! When I wrote "maize", I intended that spelling because it is part of the actual name. In that case, however, I should have written Maize... as in, "The Maize". Sorry for the confusion!

Corn Mazes freak me out!
But a really good pumpkin patch with Hay Rides is at Bracken United Methodist Church. They have a little train, pumpkins to paint, a great spot for photo ops and lots of pumpkins!

I've been meaning to go to the Love Creek Orchards too. I've heard alot about them. They are in Medina.

Devine Acres is another one that I've heard good things about. They are on the way to Hondo.

SA, if you are claustrophobic it is definitely NOT for you
My husband was soooo glad that he didn't go with us. He had us laughing when he told us that he would have cut through the corn no matter who yelled at him not to cut through.
Then again, my sister in-law went during the day and said that she was only in the maze for about 15 to 20 minutes. Maybe in the daytime you don't get turned around. (and I promise there was no alcohol involved when I went , LOL).

We did the one in Hondo last year.
Here's a link with coupon and list of activities.

The cornlauncher thing was pretty cool. And the home made kettle korn and lemonade was yummy! I think there was also a little petting zoo and a hayride.
Doh, guess I should have read Malone's response first
