Have you tried the Farmers market? I know at the Pearl market they have meat vendors, not sure if its grass fed or not but I think would be a good place to start.
HEB does carry organic grass fed beef but I didn't look to see where it was sourced from.

If you're wanting to stock the freezer & not just buy a little bit at a time look into Heritage Lean Beef in Rock Springs. We buy a half at time and pick how we want it cut.

I've been buying mine from Greg Edelen for years. You can find him on Sunday mornings at the new farmers' market in the Bass Pro Shop parking lot (or somewhere in that area, it's a new market and I haven't been there yet). He's also at the Leon Springs market Saturday mornings, except for the first Saturday of the month. He also sells eggs, honey, and a few other things.

If you want longhorn meat, go to Bandera Grassland. There's probably a waiting list. You have to buy at least 1/8 and they deliver in San Antonio. She also sells pastured pork (a nice way to say young wild hog meat), which is absolutely delicious:

Yea, i think the farmer's market is the only place (Pearl, Quarry, etc) with a decent selection (unless they have something at Whole Foods, etc). The other option is Bison at HEB. About $8 a pound, though. Although the Bison doesn't say "grass fed", I talked to the company and they told me the Bison are grass fed a few years until their are slaughtered.

Woah- this is the first I am hearing about this farmer's market and it's right around the corner from me! It is worth a trip on a Monday morning? I purchased peaches and tomatos from a guy there a year or so ago and they didn't taste any better than what I was buying from HEB... and I think they were more expensive

This was on a Tuesday afternoon though and he was the only one selling....
