Anyone have experience with any of the local repair shops that specialize in Xbox 360 repair? It will not read discs anymore. Probably dust on the lens but I don't think I want to open it. It's also past warranty so that's why I want to try local; faster turnaround-

it might be a long shot, but try giving gameover a call and see if they can help you out.

they specialize in retro systems, but seem to have plenty of modern systems, and their staff is pretty nice and knowledgeable.

Cheapest, guaranteed way to do it is to crack it open, find out what type of drive is in there, buy a brand new one, move the logic board from your old drive to the new one. $40.

Was hoping to find a location of the Northside somewhere. Seems like all are on the Southside.

I am sure you know, that unless you send it in to Microsoft, any repair vendor will void the warranty. With that in mind. There may be ways you can fix it yourself with very little time and money. A no disk reading error is either a dirty lens or bad optical drive. Have you tried a lens cleaning disk? They really do work. If it is a bad optical drive, you will need to find any shop that will fix xbox's. (craigslist is a great place to find a shop or repair guy near you) The optical drive replacement is a no brainer for even the most basic tech. From what I understand there are only one or two models of optical drives the xbox can utilize.

saw a new place on Stone Oak Parkway...UBreakIFix...or something along those lines. On the internet it sounds like they do alot of phone, Ipod repairs, but it might be worth a call.
