Tex mex is its own thing and is authentic in its own right....and can be delicious.

While I'm not crazy about the food at Mi Tierra, I really enjoy the atmosphere. You can have a good time there.

Tex-Mex is indeed authentic and a native American cuisine. More proper to this region than Jalisco or anything from Mexico.

I agree with your statement but it seemed like another poster was trying to pass off Iron Cactus being authentic in terms of Mexican fare, not Tex-Mex which I personally felt was not true at all.

I am fine with the quality of Iron Cactus's food and it being more tex mex. I just felt the service was bad. I had to wait way longer than usual for my iced tea while those ordering alcohol got their drinks quickly. I asked for tableside gaucomole before the meal, he "forgot" and by the time I reminded him (he dissapeared for long periods of time often) about it, the main course was being brought out. I told him to forget the gaucomole. He tried to joke with me saying I drank my co-worker's beer, and I wanted to tell him it was because he takes way too long to refill my iced tea and I got thirsty.

I probably offended one of my coworkers who knows people working there but honestly I really felt annoyed with the nonchalant, care-free attitude of the employees there.

I would rather go to Casa Rio or Mi Terra over this place if I must choose touristy mex/tex-mex fare on the riverwalk.

Went to Mexican Manhattan for lunch today, I have never been before and will never ever go again. Absolutely awful.
