Question WHY are Californians flocking to S.A.?

I tried to find out on the net, but gave up. So, why are Californians flocking to S.A.? Why not Houston or DFW? Anyone know or seen anything on tv or the newspaper about this?

I just hope and pray that they don't "Californicate" San Antonio or the rest of Texas heaven forbid!

Just kidding folks...there's enough for all of us here. We're not bad people...just a little different. If you perceive the influx as a negative...then it WILL be. If you embrace the change, then maybe you can learn many things from us....and we can learn many things from you. Change is inevitable.
We had the same situation in San Diego....tons of New Yorkers and Bostonians moved in. Sure, some natives fought it...and it made them miserable. The others accepted it and life went on.

But WHY S.A.? Houston and DFW have cheap real estate, too. In fact, when I last checked a few weeks ago, SA was more expensive overall than Houston. This is not making sense.

We hear and read a lot of negative things about Houston (smog, hurricane vulnerability, big humidity etc..). No one really says anything bad about San Antonio. We also hear about ice storms and nasty thunderstorms in Dallas. I'm betting that has a lot to do with it. We're not used to that stuff. A little quake once in a while we can handle....but heavy rain and ice...

Also, a lot of us perceive San Antonio as a very family friendly city that contains many people of Hispanic descent. A lot of us from SoCal are of Hispanic descent as well. We moved here for all of the above reasons...plus my wife's sister lives in Monterrey...so it's an easy bus ride. Not as easy from Dallas or Houston.

Along with the increase of tax base, we bring along different political opinions. I'm quite sure that we can compromise. You might find some of our views refreshing, and vice versa.
I don't wish to open this thread into a smoking/non-smoking debate...so I won't take that one any further. Let's just say, you can see which way the smoking laws are progressing throughout the country.
