Default New Wal-Mart on Perrin Beitel & Thousand Oaks??

A customer in HEB on Perrin Beitel Rd & Thousand Oaks told me a Wal-Mart is going up across the street. I see that Thrift Town is moving and that center has been going down hill for years. Anyone
know if it's going in there?

Since it used to be an HEB, I am sure there is some sort of deed restriction to keep Wal-Mart's hands off of it--unless the restriction is expiring soon.

Thrift Town is moving to Jones Maltsberger/Thousand Oaks (not excited about that being there...yes, I am being NIMBY) and that location was also formerly an HEB and has a deed restriction in place until I believe 2025 or something. Maybe longer.

I hope not too. The area is heavily congested and Wal-Mart would really make a mess of that intersection. I googled it but only found the one on Foster Rd that will be built.

That would be interesting. While that intersection is congested, that general area has gone downhill as far as business goes. It would be more convenient for the people in that area instead of driving all the way to 1604 and Nacogdoches. It also beats driving to 1604 and 281 with all of the traffic. Even though it would be extremely close to me, I'm also not that far away from the one on Jones Maltsberger and 410 and the one on Austin Hwy.

The Austin Hwy Wal-mart is only 4.2 miles from that intersection and 5 miles to the 1604 & Nacogdoches. But it would be very convenient for us that live in this area. I still have not been able to find anything definitive on this.

Are you sure it used to be an HEB? Solo Serve was there for many years, and there used to be a really generic grocery store...I think it might have been Pic n Save, although even that was gone by about 1988 when Thrift Town moved in.

Anyhow, looking at the county clerk's records, Walmart is planning to move in there. AWK Properties, who owned the shopping center with Thrift Town in it, sold to PRA/GFR Nacogdoches LP, who also bought the smaller shopping center beside it (facing onto Nacogdoches Rd), applied for rezoning for the smaller center, and is selling the whole thing to Walmart. The plan for the shopping center is public record.

I think it's a good idea, that shopping center has been slowly decaying for at least 15 years.
