Hope this is the right forum for this question...
We are relocated to TX and looking for a few things.

A small town within an hours drive or so to either Austin or San Antonio. I want to stay far away from any city traffic! I'd be happy to never see another interstate again

An established Catholic Parish or good community involved school system. We will be raising our young children and hope to find a town where there are also young families.

We love love! Texas and know that wherever we end up we will find the friendly people so I don't even need to ask about that The reason we are moving to TX in the first place. Good people!!!

We have looked at Shiner, TX because of the great Catholic School that is well established there. Looking for other recommendations such as this. Maybe on the other side of 35...

I know this thread is not specific to San Antonio. If someone thinks I would have these questions answered elsewhere please redirect me Just thought you all might be best. Thanks!! So excited to read what you all have to say!!!

New Braunfel's has a nice parish/school. St. Peter and Paul's. I think Kerrville opened a new Catholic High School, John Paul II? Fredericksburg (adorable little German town), has a nice little Catholic school...but no Catholic HS. Austin has a good Catholic school system, as well.

When I lived in Austin I went to St. Thomas Moore and LOVED it! But this time around we are staying away from the city and really want to raise our children in a small town. I have had a few people mention St. Peter and Paul's and will look into that. I was little leery of New Braunfel's for fear of traffic and tourism. Thank you for the info!!!

ALSO just an add on...we want to find a town where we can have the involved community feel but still go "home" and have some space We want 20 plus acres too.
Thank you!

JPII is the new Catholic high school in Schertz. Kerrville has Notre Dame for elementary and Our Lady of the Hills for high school. Check out SACAtholicschools.org. They have a listing of schools by county - most are in Bexar county, but some smaller communities have schools as well.
