Apparently, you can be suspended 15 times and still be promoted to lieutenant.

Quote:
Of Rakun's 15 suspensions spanning his 19-year career, this is the second time McManus has in effect fired him; the one in 2010 was reversed.

So union rules and public service rules/regulations matter more than public safety? Good to know.

Well, the police are obligated to follow them just as we citizens are the rules and laws that apply to us; why do you think otherwise?!?

[font=Tms Rmn]I think the point is NO ONE in the private sector nonunion labor can be suspended and fired already once and expect to work for that same company.

But again - that's not the PD's fault - that's the NLRB, Union, etc - the bigger question in MY mind is - why is the UNION defending this guy?!???

And THIS is exactly why unions have become nothing but a burden on society.

That's the question I have. It doesn't help law enforcement's image and undermines the public's trust.

I am talking more about rules and laws that govern police conduct. If someone can be suspended over 14 times and still be considered for a promotion then I see a big problem here. You have stated many times that you feel people who wear the uniform and take the oath are a step above ordinary citizens, this clown is clearly NOT. He sets a bad example for the rest of his co-workers who are trying to do things right.

This is why I don't like unions. No one should be obligated to join and follow union rules. The company (police dept in this case) should not have to submit to union rules but I am going way off tangent now. Just my personal opinion regarding unions.
