Wow I haven't heard "chocolate egg creams" in years! Being from NY, my first job in 1964 was at a soda fountain and learned to make egg creams, floats, etc. When you find a place let me know!

I think I saw them on the menu of Drew's on 1604. For a big buck. Buy some chocolate syrup, club soda and milk - and DYI.

No way GEM...... a true Brooklyn chocolate egg cream is made with:

~ Half & Half

~ Seltzer water

~ Fox's U-Bet chocolate syrup

Will check out Drew's, thanks.... (and I do make them with imported Fox's)

I grew up in Brooklyn and was trying to make it easy for local versions.

Anyway, back in Flatbush - Bosco and whole milk and seltzer were used in the local candy store.

Now, if we had good chopped liver, knishes and blintzes here.

knishes, oh how I miss them, and real Italian ices.

For the holidays I order in a couple of Juniors cheesecakes (I'm sorry, NOBODY makes a cheesecake like Juniors).....

And could you imagine San Antonio if they had something similar to the festival of San Gennaro?

They've change hands a few times. Not impressed the one time I was there.

BTW, the deli style restaurant in Austin - Manny something went belly up. It was mediocre but the only game in town. Katz's was supposedly good but it wasn't either. It's gone.
