Kind of a silly question, but not sure where else to ask! I've pretty much narrowed my move down to the Stone Oak area, it seems similar to OC in terms of master planned communities/high end apartment complexes and I'm thinking I'll feel the most comfortable there. That said though, does Texas do sushi?? I'm not sure if it's popular everywhere, or more of a "California thing". I pretty much live off the stuff, so my proximity to good sushi is very important haha. Does HEB (I believe that's the grocery store in that area?) sell boxed sushi? I usually grab a box or two when I buy my groceries. And I usually go out to an actual sushi restaurant once every week or so. Just wondering

Yes HEB sells sushi. There are people making it fresh everyday.

I like going to Sake Cafe (Sake Cafe - San Antonio, TX) for sushi but there is also Zushi Sushi and That's How We Roll in Stone Oak area also.

Sushi Express is in the Stone Oak area and is also pretty good.

HEB does sell sushi, but not as wide of a variety as I have seen in grocery stores in other cities (in TX and elsewhere, including California). Several of theirs have imitation crab, which I don't see quite as often in other grocery chains. I did see one roll there that had Hot Cheetos crumbled on top - blech.

When Whole Foods opens - they will probably have sushi. Sushi Express is good.

Never was a fan Zushi Sushi.

Another vote for Sake Cafe...my fiance introduced it to me last year and I've been a fan ever since. Another plus: Sake is a few doors down from Kennedy's, so once you've had your fill of sushi and sake, you can relax and have a few more drinks at the bar!

Whole Foods sushi rice is rather bland also. I'm also bored with the rolls at HEB. I'm not that much of a roll fan as compared to other formats. Too much rice. I wish someone around town had a good takeout sashimi selection - beyond tuna and salmon.
