Default Looking for dog training/ trainer for dog aggression

I am looking for a place or someone who can work with our dog that has some aggression issues (both with dogs and people). The dog is 4 years old and is a rescue dog we got at 6 months or so. Breed is mixed with a mix of Chow, Australian Shephered and Lab.

Anyone have any recommendations from experience? Would prefer someone or place that does not use shock collars etc.

Thank you in advance!

Call buck ryckman at ryckman kennels in Boerne. He worked wonders with my dog, though we didn't have aggression issues.

You've probably done this, but have you asked your vet for recommendations? Many years ago, I used David Millmore of Euro Dog Center. (And it seems his center has grown, too. They now have a swimming pool!)

The Millmores specialize in obedience and agility. The location may not be close to you, however. Best of luck to you -- and so glad you're willing to work with your pup!!

Is the aggression due to fear (i.e., dog is uncomfortable or afraid in the situation and thus becomes aggressive because he feels he needs to protect himself)? If so, there are trainers that focus on just that. I know there is a trainer that works through Kitty Hawk Animal Hospital that has a class for scaredy-cat/reactive dogs, but that may not be overly convenient for you unless you are in the northeast area.
When I lived out of state, the humane society where I volunteered had an amazing training department - one of the classes was Owly Growly for anxious/reactive dogs... Last time I checked, none of the humane society-type places around here had training programs for some reason, but you might also check with them to see if they do or if they have suggestions.
