Basically what part of the city should I live in. I am working downtown. What am I in for. I am from New England and have been in NYC for 3 years. Will I like San Antonio? Any advice/suggestions will help.

As for where you should live, that's up to what you want.

You want an urban lifestlye, check out Southtown, Downtown, SoFlo, River North, Pearl, Lower Broadway, Monte Vista, Tobin Hill.

You want a suburban lifestyle check out Alamo Heights, the Quarry area, Northwoods, Stone Oak, Sonoma, Schertz, Cibolo, Oak Farm, etc.

I would live downtown in your case. Unfortunately, there is a provincial, small town feel here, no matter what part of town you live in. If you don't mind that, you'll be fine.

I would strongly avoid living directly downtown. It is not really a "liveable" area in spite of the city's efforts in trying to make it more that way. There is a considerable lack of grocery shopping and other basic necessities.

I would recommend living north/central of downtown, but not too far out. Going too far north of 410 would not be good for your commute, especially as you get into the Stone Oak area, which is a really popular new suburban area but has traffic issues. The older Alamo Heights and Tobin areas as someone already mentioned would be a great choice. If it were me I would choose the airport area, such as Bitters/281. It's not too far from those places anyway, and it's also more central to many other aspects of the city. Another similar spot is northwest around Wurzbach/I10.

Ok, 25, Single? assume no kids.

Working Downtown, SA is a spread out town, to say downtown, is a fairly large area, company name or street area would be helpful. If you work on the west side of downtown, then it is best to live close to there, or whichever. Looking for a one bdrm apt? bus or car? pets? Price range?

What do you like to do, hike, walk, bike, movie, dining?

all of these are relavent to looking for a place. You want to rent a small house? more info if you want an answer.

Southtown, King William, River North, Tobin Hill, Mahncke Park, and Monte Vista would be the areas I would focus on. Across these areas you will find variety in housing types, prices, and amenities. All would offer an easy commute to downtown.
