Default Possibly Moving to SA Next Year

Hi! I'm planning to attend graduate school at Army/Baylor next year and am looking for a home that is easily accessible to Ft. Sam Houston. I've looked at the Schertz/Cibolo area, which is close to the base, but I'm a little concerned about the school district. I love the Stone Oak area, but it's pricey in comparison. We want to buy in a family friendly environment that we could eaily use as rental property once we leave the area. Any suggestions??

Schertz/Cibolo is on the edge of the city where Fort Sam is pretty central. Manchke Park would be ideal in location, with plenty of other established neighborhoods inside the loop.

I recommend you find a realtor and tell him/her what your requirements are...they will be able to help you work with your budget, requirements, and give you the pros and cons. Then, you can, once you have ensured that your needs are met, ask us about this vs that and it would be sure that YOU get what YOU need and then do the compairson!

Welcome to the military (sounds like) and welcome to SA!!!!!

Check out Terrell Heights. It's 5 min. from Ft. Sam and in the Alamo Heights school district (IMO - the best, academically, in town). The houses are resonably priced for the area. There are lots of young families there, and a great location for parks, zoo, museums, downtown, restaurants, shopping.

Tops mentioned Manchke park, but if you're concerned about the schools in Shertz/Cibalo, I really don't think you'll like the schools there.

I live in TH, with two little ones, and love it.

Houses are older there (built in the 40's & 50's), not sure if you like older homes, but if you do, this neighborhood is a real gem.

Goood luck - Jay
