Hi,
Recently moved to Encino Park area, 281 and Evans. Have two young kids and need a good park for after-school exercise. LOVE McAllister Park, but would like to stay north of the Anderson Loop. Most of the "subdivision" parks tend to be small and not very challenging.

Heard of a nice park in Timberland, but can't find it.

Thanks for your help!

PS - moved here from Los Angeles in December, so please be somewhat detailed in directions if they are needed.

I think why you can't find the Timberland park is because the name is actually Timberwood Park. I don't have any details on it, but perhaps googling it you can find exactly where it is.

If you are looking for a playground, then unfortunately most of them around here are behind gated neighborhoods. One of the better "public" ones is the one right in your neighborhood on Encino Rio. I think its for Encino Park residents, but since no one checks I used to take my daughter there.

If you are looking for trails, then Stone Oak Park is your best and closest option. You'll find a decent crowd on nice afternoons. Stone Oak Parkway divides it in half. The southern part of it has a little playground with a climbing wall.

Bullis County Park has a nice, new playground for the kiddos and walking trails. It's out past Timberland,,,oops, I mean Timberwood Park on Blanco road, right past Old Blanco road . Hardly ever gets crowded.
