I never said it wasn't for college students or people just starting out. But it isn't for lower income class residents, although who cares if it were. It's just priced cheap which is why it's well liked. I've been to four IKEA stores in four different geographical locations, one outside of the US so I'm not offering my viewpoint for the sake of offering it. But let's agree to disagree.

....and there is a reason that it's priced cheap...because most of it is of "cheap" quality. IMO- There are enough "cheap" furniture stores in SA already.
OK- Now I'll agree to disagree.

Actually the main reason it is cheaply priced is because the products are self constructing.

Yeah, it's not the highest quality in the world - but is better than many think. The biggest issue for most who would LOVE an Ikea here is that while cheap furniture is easy to find, modern-lined furniture is next to impossible to find in any but the very highest price range. It's about the style, not the quality. One's choices, if you like modern, are very limited, so any expansion of that choice, even on the cheap side, is greeted with glee by those who like Euro-style.

MPinSC is correct, it's the style that wins the fans as well as the price.

If you don't want to shop there that is your choice. But for those that love to wander around IKEA for hours and look at all the fun things they have...it will be a great addition to San Antonio.

I don't recall being anyone asking what tax bracket I am in to get in the door...who cares???? If you like something why is the price of it important?? Whether it is Nordstroms or Penneys.....buy what makes you happy, not for what it costs.....as long as you can afford it:-)

Default Hooray!

(although I won't get my hopes up too high until that "lure" becomes "contract"! )

Will be great to have an Ikea closer than Round Rock when we're ready to redo our kitchen and baths with some of those swank cabinets! Woo hoo! Those of us who love MCM will sure appreciate them being here. (Now if only I could find a local place to buy an aluminum Christmas tree???? )

EXACTLY!!! There's a thread about them in the "house" section, I think. Apparently you can actually buy them both from Hammacher Schlemmer, but how fun would it be to take the kids to a store and pick one out themselves?! Hee hee!

Besides the above mentioned thread about the trees here on the forum, you can also check this out...Aluminum Christmas trees, color wheels and more at AluminumChristmasTrees.net (http://www.aluminumchristmastrees.net/cgi-bin/cart.cgi?DT=4 - broken link)
