The Time Warner bill I received Saturday has a NEW charge added.
$3.95 for Internet Modem Lease.

I have never had that charge before in the past 6 plus years I have been using Road Runner. There is no explanation on the statement and there is not a notice on last months statement stating this was going to start.

Has anyone else noticed a difference in their Road Runner charges?

Thanks Bo
I'm sorry I didn't see the other thread.

If it started in June, I wonder why it didn't appear on my statement until this month? not that I'm complaining.

However, I noticed in the other thread some posts from this past summer (July 2012) said the charge was $2.50. The charge on my statement is $3.95. That is a lot higher.!!!
I wonder if they have gone up on the charge since July.
It seems every time I blink my eyes, TW has added some little charge on my statement or gone up.... Grrrrrrr

Yeah once you get out of the price lock thing they charge leasing fees for all equipment. Sucks, but it's all about the dollar. Nickle and dime us to death, instead of treating us like loyal customers. Nobody does that any more.

I know the feeling.

We do e-billing with TW and I hadn't looked at the detail of the statement in a couple of years. I dug into one of them last week and found out that we're now paying $10/month for the digital converter that used to be incuded with our service. I'm glad we only have one of those!

There was a notice on my October bill about the upcoming fee that would begin in November. I purchased my own modem off their very meager list of approved devices (made sure it was DOCSIS 3.0 for future compatibility) and had it up and running after a 10-minute call to TW. I returned their modem the next day and I was in and out of the TW office in less than 5 minutes. It'll take a couple of years to pay for itself, but at least I'm not contributing to the $360 million they're expecting to make annually off this new fee. Seems greedy for a company whose profits are up 35%:

A la carte cable channels is all I want.

Regardless of what others will say the model will eventually change and this will be an option.

What gets me is the fact that it seems there is no consistency in their charges. If you talk around, one person pays one amount and another person pays a different amount for the same service.

Apparently some folks on this forum started paying the Internet Modem Lease charge in June. I didn't get the charge until this months statement (which is fine with me)
But according to some posts on the other thread...some seem to be paying $2.50. My statement has $3.95.
I wonder what the correct charge is supposed to be? $2.50 or $3.95 ? Or does it depend on which TW Rep I need to talk to ?

I would rather have consistency then think I have to waggle around negotiating the best deal. But that's just me.

I saw your post and decided to look at our statement. Sure enough, a $3.95 charge had been added starting this month.

My husband is off today and was in a grumbly sort of mood, so I got him to call TW and grumble at them about customer loyalty and price gouging and everything else he could think of. By the time he was done, they lowered our bill by ten dollars a month for the next year

Dealing with cable companies is like buying a car every month. We went with an antenna and NetFlix and doing just fine.
