Is there a website for Bexar County I could check to see which roads are currently flooded or closed due to flooding? Not sure if I should let my daughter drive to school this morning.

Thank you.

Well, for one...

Quote:
SAPD Officers and emergency crews are working to clear a jack-knifed 18-wheeler at Loop 410 and Culebra. Lanes on both sides of 410 are shut down and roads are still very slick. Travel through this area will be slow-going at best. Use an alternate route if possible.
KENS5 has a site: kens5.com | San Antonio Traffic, Road Conditions - KENS5.com

Not sure if this website still works, I can't access it from work:

San Antonio Emergency Street Closures

And as always, use good common sense when driving as not all flood points are marked and/or closed off. I usually will not cross if I cannot see the line in the road through the water (and I drive a Jeep!). It doesn't take much to sweep a vehicle off the road (as little as 18-24" of moving water, and that includes SUVs and pick-up trucks. A mere six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult), and we usually have several deaths a year of people who used poor judgment and tried to drive cross water-swollen roads. The Center for Disease Control reports that over half of all flood-related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood water!

For more info, see the Turn Around Don't Drown Home Page.

Cheers! M2

Thanks! That's what I was looking for. Bookmarking the sites now. We've talked to the kids about flash flooding and what to look for when driving through water (and when not to drive through), but talking about it and actually seeing it first hand are two different things.
