We had a system that redistributed funds more equally. It was called Robin Hood, and while it was around for a while after a monumental court battle, it has since been revoked.

Although I also feel the amount of taxes we have to pay to the schools without having children is ridiculous, my beef falls with the distribution of the funds. If you live in a middle or upper class neighborhood, your schools get more funding because of higher taxes. But what happens to the children in the lower class neighborhoods? The taxes should be spread around equally amongst all of the public schools in San Antonio. so that all of the of the children can have the same opportunity. For the record, I live in a upper middle class neighborhood, so there is no bias here.

I agree with you, since I have to pay through the nose for school tax, I wish they would bring back the Robin Hood system. The waste is so bad that the NEISD could have got Windsor Park Mall for a song and dance but yet wants to build 150 million schools. There are lot of bldg the ISD could convert to schools. I heard on the news they want to close W Campus. Who is going to refund the taxpayers there money for that boo boo

i also agree, but why should districts with "upper" classes get taxed higher so others can have more money?

Actually, closing W Campus (which is in the South San ISD) will save SSISD $$. There are only about 300 students there.

NEISD needs to build schools where the people are. Every school N of 1604 is bursting at the seams (1200 students), yet there is still plenty of undeveloped land.

Retrofitting a building such as Windsor Park would probably cost more than a school. Anyway, Rack Space purchased it, and now will be paying taxes TO NEISD.

CISD has slated to build 4 new palaces on one street. I don't know how long the street is...but 4 schools??? All four are elementary schools.

Good answer! Also because it benefits you to educate children. They will be our laywers, dentists, doctors, etc. when we're old. Money spent on education is money well spent - on anyone.

Then I guess you can do without a cardiac care nurse. I mean, who needs post-surgical care, right? Just a waste of money.
