Do you want best or the cheapest? In my opinion, its hard to top the dealership. You'll pay more, but they know how to handle your vehicle. Discount Tire is probably cheaper and will probably do an adequate job. Just like anything, best and cheapest just don't go together.

Well somewhere in the middle. I guess the best value would be best. Discount attire doesn't do wheel alignments.

it's not really about the place, it's all about how good the tech working on your car is.
a computer can align the car perfectly, but manual intervention by human hands is still necessary.

if the tech isn't paying attention to what they're doing, a slight slip of the hand/grip can setup the car out of alignment with what the computer dialed it in at.

Alignment is everything in a car. If it's off, you're going to get cupping and insane tread wear. I get mine tinkered with now and then at the dealership, as they can align to spec and then hand-adjust if I want something different (ie, my camber never ends up where I want it)

Just get a print-out of your old and new numbers when getting it aligned.

As for where to go, I'd say dealership. Yeah, some complain they charge more, but if you're just wanting it to spec, it's the best place to go. I pay about $60 every time I hit my dealership for a full alignment.

Just curious, why do you think you need an alignment? Uneven tire wear? A shimmy when you drive? Does the car tend to track to one side or the other? It might be something other than the alignment...

I got this thing from JC whitney. I don't know if they are still in business. It measures wheel alignment. I have never seen the horror stories about wheel alignment. I am sure it exists. Most of the time my tires warp and seperate before they get that far. Now days tires disinigrate before they wear out. Every repair place will try to sell you Alignments and anything else they can think of. It is ok if it gives you peace of mind

southwest break and alignment on 35 near BAMC, best place for alignment in town, they also do true balancing, this is where they balance and shave the tires while they are on the car. This gives it the smoothest ride and extends the life of your tires. I have been taking my cars there for years. They are also very inexpensive.
