As stated in my other thread, I was in south San Antonio today and passed by another place that I've been meaning to ask about.

Just north of 1604 on Rt 16 (a.k.a. Palo Alto Rd) there is an abandoned housing project on the left (west) side of the road (see here) that has always intrigued me.

The building look unfinished and unfortunately as usual some morons have sprayed graffiti all over them and broken many of the windows.

I don't know if this picture will come out but this is a street view of the entrance.

Did the building go bankrupt and just stopped developing them, or is there something else to the story? The address is approximately 18090 Texas 16, San Antonio, Texas.

Cheers! M2

The guy in charge of the project went to prision for misuse of loans from the banks and not paying the contractors for that project. I can't remember his name now but it was in the news for awhile.

I also recall he was not obataining city permits and the city shut him down as well.

Amazing, those places are pretty well along to think that something of that magnitude would put an abrupt halt to the project.

They are nice looking places (despite the broken windows and graffiti), you think with the development boom going on towards the south of SA that someone would want to finish it up and make some money off of them.

I drove by that almost daily when I worked at the rehab place down there. Always struck me as a great development to turn into something helpful, if no one else took it on.

I have entered the property....exploring. some homes are all frame....some complete with no light fixtures or plumbing. Luckily not as ravaged by transients or idiots. The homes i explored aside from broken glass and busted doors are just dirty and empty.

I hope you had permission to do so, otherwise you were trespassing under Texas Penal Code §30.05(A) - A person commits an
offense if he enters or remains on or in property, including an aircraft or other vehicle, of another without effective consent.

It's a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500 and as much as three years community supervision.

Im very aware. I take my own risks when i want to. Im an adult and very responsible for my own actions. Im not some kid looking to be destructive. Just curios about our city and its structures. Some people just do what they can to find answers.
