KENS5 also gives a good newscast. KSAT is kind of boring.
I knew it wasn't just me!!

Sometimes I feel like I'm watching college TV. The anchors and reporters aren't college age, but their level of professionalism and ability to adlib is limited. I would think that with this large of a city, it would be a big deal to get a news job here.
Has anyone listened to the Great Day SA Kristina try to adlib while interviewing someone? She reminds me of a beauty queen we had on a local cable channel, years ago -- not articulate enough for the job.

This thread is cracking me up! Chris Marrou a 100 years old??? Whoever said that must not remember Dan Cook or Judd Ashmore!!! (Didn't they keep having "send off" or "retirement parties" for Judd....but he kept coming back?? LOL...! When I was in college, a friend at the station tried to match me up with Chris!...so I suppose I'm a 100 years old too! (He might have a couple of years on me!)

And to further date myself, Debroah Knapp Bonilla lived down the hall from me at UT in Austin. I remember all the talk about her getting a small part with Robert Redford in some movie. I think they were in a sleeping bag together but not much could be seen of Debbie. (Can't remember that movie's name!) She went off to Boston, and then came back to SA. I've always liked her.....always professional.

Vickie Buffolino is stunning in person. She's attractive on camera, but I saw her at a restaurant one night and took double take becuase she was completely striking and seemed very upbeat and happy.

I like Jennifer Broome! She's definitely an improvement over the former "meteorologists". (Hey...I say 'frigerator'....we all have our pet words!

I didn't use to care much for Tanji Patton, but she's definitely adapted to the camera and seems so much more at ease on the set. I saw her at HEB just the other day, and she also is very pretty in person! ...as well as being very pleasant. (my cart ran into hers!)

I'm not a big fan of Today's Living. It's just an extention of some flash in the pan "boutiques" from the Tri-Cities. Hello! There other stay at home parents, students, and senior citizens that could benefit from "other" genres.
I can think of a half a dozen "businesses" they've highlighted that are no longer around.

Finally...I'm a big BEAMER fan! The main and ONLY reason I even tune into to the news. His wife works for ???? another news station. Bet they have some interesting talks at breakfast!

Overall....I tend to go back to WOAI....I try them all...but NONE of them get it. They just need me to come and give a little wardrobe advice and set design. Is there anyone else that thinks that "neon" thing behind the set on WOAI looks like a sno-cone advertisment? WHAT IS THAT????

Googie...I'll have to look for Greg Simmons at the ReBar! Wasn't there a story about the music there bothering the folks at the assisted living center BEHIND the bar?? I'll tell Greg hi for you!

Oh....right....the "news". I don't even really watch the reports. I get my info online too!

I've always wondered how he keeps this up at his age? I mean, practically every night, drunk, all that smoke in the air, etc., that would kill me - and he's got at least 15 years on me...The man is unstoppable!

Maybe he was stumbling over to give them a piece of his mind about complaining? or Maybe he is a resident.

What a funny thread.lol
first of all, I dont want to read anything negative about Good day SA host Kristina Guererro, she's my future x-wife o.k.?
and KSAT's Leslee Muton(sp?) before I go on, I must ask, is that her real hair? she did have cancer and had to shave it. but if its real, please update it. it looks like if I were to throw a rock at her head, the rock would bounce off.
and that one cop that does the traffic, his uniform is way too tight on him.LOL
Vickie Bufolino, she once came into Borders books where I worked, and she was so drunk.LOL
also, remember that anchor man that got busted for having child porn? I once helped him out also at Borders, gives me the chills just thinking about it.

and the Ancira lady, does she always have to swing her finger in the air when she says "just outside loop 410"
LOL

You mean Aracely from Fiesta Dodge - Just Outside the Loop. She is hot! Even when she was pregnant, she was hot.

I haven't seen her lately though.

Talking about hot moms, I enjoy watching Shelly Miles in the morning.

I would rather get my news from CNN or online.....local news casts tend to be so overly dramatic sometimes, as if what they are reporting is akin to the end of mankind as we know it. JMHO....:-)

All the San Antonio stations have something good to offer and have some strong traditions. I try to view all channels whenever I visit SA. KENS 5 is still top-rated with news and is one of the country's strongest CBS stations. They've still got the legendary Chris Marrou, now part of the market for 35 years. Now that's stability. 4 has good newscasts, but they tend to focus way too much on violent stories. And 12 has some good people and good broadcasts. As for FOX 29, the last time I saw them, they were trying to clean up what I felt was "Gen-X" news coverage. I'm not sure how they're doing now.
But all in all, SA is what I would consider a good market for news. And kudos to WOAI 4 for SA Living. I don't get to see it except for clips on the Internet, but it appears to be quite good and has established a following with viewers.
