I think the following are funny stupid political theatre:

1. Not releasing her statement yesterday to the Express News (and WOAI from what i understand)

2. Giving the media 30 minutes advance notice, but her supporters were informed of this yesterday evening.

I personally think the bigger issue is that Chan has ethical issues shown recently with the library deal and property she owned next door.

I also think its very stupid to make statements such as these while conducting business as an elected official. Is she this naive to think that nothing ever stated at these meetings would ALWAYS remain private? If this had been done while she was 'off duty' essentially from her councilwoman duties thats one thing, but this was essentially done while 'on the clock' so I'm not really sure what the point of first amendment has to do with this. Nobody is questioning her First Amendment rights, they are questioning many, many other issues with this. I mean its not illegal to record what was going on during this meeting, since the guy recording it was there and part of the meeting, so I'm not really sure where Chan is trying to take this at this point.

The employee who made the recording signed a confidentiality agreement, per Ms. Chan's statement today.

That is a binding contractual agreement and that person who violated it is now subject to that agreements penalty clause.

So glad that the GetEqual Texas organization has issued a travel precaution to the LGBT community traveling to San Antonio. This news, along with the other two disgusting events that took place last week in SA, have already reached national headlines and will probably make the gay community think twice before visiting touristy SA. You can hide your hate speech behind "free speech" but be prepared to endure the negative consequences of it! The City of San Antonio might want to do some damage control right about now because alot people in the country are disgusted by what's been coming out of it as of lately.[/quote]

The LGBT community staying away from SA, how is this a bad thing?

Backbone would have been showing her true colors from the beginning, not hiding them and strategizing about how to keep them hidden. Real trailblazer there. Now that she's been revealed, all she is doing is cocooning herself in a shroud of sycophantic atta girls. It cracks me up that people will trip all over themselves to show support to bigots and in the process out themselves as one. Like it's a badge of honor.

Personally, I wish all bigots would put it out there. I want to know if someone's like this - that way I can write them off appropriately.
