Craigslist is a great, free service. I found one of my beloved basset hounds on there. And since I am happily married, and not looking for anything "personal", I just don't click on anything that I shouldn't be clicking on! I can't see my 11 year old even finding craigslist, since it's a .org, but he's not even allowed to be on the internet unless he's in the same room as one of us, so it's not an issue in my house.

I was not debating the "good" things on the website... like finding dogs and having garage sales. I was simply saying that the layout and accessibility to the personal section is not acceptable to me AND after looking at the homepage myself, as well as the story on the news I listened to, that I wanted other people who might not know better to be aware of this. Lastly, if you think an 11-year in this day and age won't find Craigslist, then that is also naive. Even if we are careful at home, kids use the Internet at school, friend's homes, and as was already mentioned: the library. Let's end this with what we CAN agree on... it's powerful and free .

Your right its a great site but they need to fix the kinks. Some people are trying to get it the personal section restricted and rightfully so. There loosing potential traffic because of it. You not alone there are a huge handful out there like you.

I'm sorry, when you called it a "trashy" site, I didn't see you saying anything good about it. I personally check craigslist every day, and I don't venture over into the personals section. How hard is it to just not click on it if you find it may be offensive? And I know for a fact my son is not looking at craigslist, at my home or anyone else's, and especially not at school.

I love craigslist. I have sold a lot of stuff on there. I only go to the "for sale" section. Yes, I have ventured off into some other the other stuff and I will agree it was pretty trashy . But I only did that once and now I just look at the for sale stuff.
It is a great way to get rid of stuff and the best part, it is free!! you don't find that very often now days.

Hello,

I just bought a Truck from Craigslist and had great success.

It is one of the truely "free" websites left that does not accept ads.

Great website if you know how to read between the lines.

A lot of usefull S.A. stuff on there.

Craigslist is great. I've used it to find people that do services, to buy things, and to sell things. Matter of fact, I have a guy coming over to powerwash my house later this morning and I found him on craigslist..

Best part about craigslist is you can find local people, so it's much harder to get scammed. Unfortunately the fleabay can't really make that claim.. although it is good for some things, it's still way too full of scammers.

as far as not clicking on things, my finger does exactly what I tell it to do...

I love CraigsList! We've bought and sold a few things and do put our yardsale ads there. But being married I never look at the personals and the Rants and Raves are (mostly) a bunch of idiots (and there are few other choice words I could call them, but won't, and hope people don't think all of SA is like that.)

But the word still needs to get out about it. Every once in a while I'll go to a yardsale with people practically giving away their furniture and tell them about CraigsList if they seem interested. So many people haven't heard about it.

Craigslist IS the best way to sell items. its a great place to get rid of electronics that dont work anymore. I've given away all my broke VCR's, and sold some items. there are people that will haul your junk away for free! I have some CD's for sale right now.

I have been on Craigslist looking for a new desk or office desk/file cabinet combo. I bought a new computer and it doesnt work with my old set up... for instance, right now I'm sitting on my bed, one leg hanging over the edge, the other stretched straight out... NOT great for the back....

With my prior laptop, I used a wireless keyboard and mouse and hooked up a free standing monitor, so it was on a regular computer desk/stand/hutch. But with my new laptop, the screen is bigger than a drive-in movie theater.

YES IT IS!!!!! don't argue with me, I'm looking right at it...

so I need a new set up.... don't mind using the wireless keyboard and mouse, but this screen is sooooo much nicer than that freestanding one I had....
so, my craigslist hunt will continue.....
