In all actuality - I think what she may be talking about is not even in "The Rim". I drove out that way tonight to visit my inlaws and there is some serious clearing on the east side of 10 north of the rim but just south of camp bullis. No clue whether she is talking about that or not - but there is enough clearing to spark my interest.

So do you mean the area in red on this map?
The area I highlighted in the first map is the area I saw construction going on, basically behind Target and across Leon Creek. I haven't really noticed any construction in the red area on the second map; but I don't get over to often and there is so much construction going on that anything new may not have grabbed my attention. Also, I know there is an entrance for trucks up in that area, following a road that basically goes underneath the powerlines...

It's a much smaller area than that, as that red area swallows up the barn I boarded at, which is still open and not on the market. But that's the general area.

A while back I read here (I think from Imsomniac, but not sure) that REI was going to be going into The Rim. Does anyone know if that is still supposed to happen?
I would personally love to see them in there (or anywhere in SA).

The latest site plan shows an REI store. It also includes a Slitsville Lanes (great to see more entertainment added). Also includes a Toby Keiths I Love This Bar and Grill.

REI's are fun to browse but you can do better on prices on the web for many items of equipment. They tend to be an MSRP shop.

If you're a northwesterner REIs are the source of all things great and wonderful. I  the garage sales they have every now and then.
