This morning I woke up and there are hundreds of small worm looking things at my side door. They are about 1/2 inch long. What are they and should I be concerned?

Can you be more specific? Do they look like earthworms? How small is small? When I go on my walks right after a rain, the earthworms are very prolific ....lots of them slithering across the pavement trying to get to ground. They like moisture, but don't like to be drowned. Maybe you have a nest of babies that were escaping the downpour last night.

These could be small slugs. They move very slowly and sometimes do not get all the way across my driveway...they don't last long in the sun.

ICK! Sounds more like some kind of larva? Do you have a digi camera? Or do a search for worm/larva in Texas. Is there anything else around that area? greenery? shrubs? deadwood? something that they might have crawled out of? ARE THEY STILL THERE???

They aren't web worms from a tree, are they? I'm thinking those are green rather than white, but can't remember.

Ahhhhhhhhh had the same thing ten fold (three or four dust pans full maybe more) in our garage!
It was right after we had the in-laws over, and they had left some food/kitchen trash in the garage trash can. SO at first we thought maggots!!!!
and got a little pissed
. But as we started to clean they were every where "all over the garage". If there was a corner, a crack, they were even under/against the tires of the kids bikes. We'd sweep and there would be more.... it was like a horror movie.....AHHHhhhhhhhhhh
Ok so I know what your thinking.... but really it's a finished garage and we are a pretty neat and a very clean family, So naturally we were freaking out... finally bombed the place and they seem to have stopped.
Once we really took a close look at them, they were much thinner than your average maggot, and didn't have any sheen to them.... We pretty much decided they were Larva, and assume they may have been Cricket???? But at least they are gone now

It was right after we had the in-laws over, and they had left some food/kitchen trash in the garage trash can. SO at first we thought maggots!!!!
and got a little pissed
. But as we started to clean they were every where "all over the garage". If there was a corner, a crack, they were even under/against the tires of the kids bikes. We'd sweep and there would be more.... it was like a horror movie.....AHHHhhhhhhhhhh
