Question Bexar County Taxes

We're purchasing a new home in Stone Oak. When we were looking for a house, one of the builder sales reps told us she heard that property taxes were going down within the next year or so. Does anyone have any info?

There is a blurb on the Bexar County website, upper right hand side of page:

BEXAR COUNTY

From what I have heard, a decrease in the county tax rate does not have an effect on the school taxes.

I'm surprised Bexar County even lowered their tax rate (less than $10 though on a $200,000 house), as they are always complaining about not having enough money.

My guess is that they lowered the tax rate a little, just to put a nice taste in everyone's mouths. Then ,they whack you with a nice, high appraisal. The net result is MORE money... but they use the guise of a lower tax rate. Sneaky, huh?

Yup! Of course, our local Smokey's in Westcreek can ratchet up those tickets at stop signs to get more money!
