I found out late that Kinky Friedman was going to be at the Cigar Club at 1604 and Stone Oak Parkway last night, so I scooted over to meet the Texas icon. Surprisingly, the crowd was not as large as would have been expected; but the Kinkster was in his usual outstanding form and chatted with everybody. He was also kind enough to sign cigar boxes and copies of his book, which I got one of each.

It is too bad that this event wasn't more heavily advertised, but it did work in my favor as that allowed those of us there more opportunity to talk with Kinky. He is a true Texas son, and in many ways would have made an excellent governor.

Cheers! M2

Hello,

I remember drinking a few beers with the man many years ago and talking about the Texas Jewboys of which I knew nothing but the name thanks to my father.

He used to frequent a place I worked at called the Leon Springs Cafe.

Another great place gone to the winds.
