Stone Oak, on the other hand, is almost like a city within itself. I don't know why they seem to get better choices in restaurants and shopping.
I lived in Stone Oak and moved out due to the lack of infrastructure to support the traffic in and out of the neighborhoods.
Reminder: Stone Oak is just now getting good restaurants, and filling all available land with shopping strips. - The shopping is new and the homes are old!! You can get a new home if you go up up and away into SO but remember the drive in and out!!
Shopping is coming in to AR slow -but faster than the 15 plus years it has taken SO. Let's keep things in perspective!

I'm personally not the biggest fan of either place, but there's a part of town for everyone around here.

I just bought a house in Alamo Ranch. Living overseas and haven't moved in yet. It DID look like all that commercial development went as predicted. Also they are putting in a new elementary, Jr High and High School there.

What do yaa'll think?

David
The new high school will NOT be for AR, but rather for people living south of Wiseman Blvd. People living in AR will use the much older Taft HS.

BTW: Pulte bought out Centex, so you could see some of the Centex models somewhere in AR.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the ininput and opinions. I am moving my wife and stepsons there in October (just got teh loan approved and should close soon!! Yeah!) Seems like a good solid neighborhood, with a new school just opening right outside the neighborhood. Looking forward to making it home.

DnC ~ I'm curious, you say "a new school just opening right outside the neighborhood". Are you referring to the elementary &/or middle school(s) or the high school? If the high school, hopefully the salespeople explained to you that the boundaries for the HS do not include AR.

Welcome to SA and I'm sure you'll love AR!!!

Default Alamo Ranch the new Stone Oak?

Stone Oak is a unique area to live and the population and retail size compaired to Alamo Ranch is VERY different. S.O. is a master planned community meaning signage, for example, is very restricted..no billboards and no signs posted at every corner. Diane Cibriane tried putting her signs in the neighborhood and they were quickly taken down. The master plan keeps the area clean and makes it a great place to live.

What I'm wondering is how Stone Oak began. Were these the city ordinaces from the start? The thought is that Alamo Ranch has the beginnings of another community similar to SO. Hope the trend continues all over town.
