Real estate agents usually insert selling prices into the MLS database. I'm sure that the appraisal district can purchase access to that database.

Also my appraisal went down by about $5000.

After a drastic, steady decline for the last 5 years (from $172 to $143 over that time period), mine has gone up $7,000 this year.

My mom did it years ago, it involved taking pictures of the parts of the house that needed repairs and then getting estimates on those repairs.

So we bought our house just about a year ago, taxes are going up 18k this year but still $40,000 less than we paid........do I even want to enter the appeal process?

Looks like surrounding home taxes are going up $5k to $20k around us....I wonder if the new homes going up one street over are affecting us? Our home was built 2006.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well as we are in the same boat except we had our home built 18 months ago. The last figures I saw was we had about a 4.6 increase in home values over the past year so mine should not have increased as much as it did but I did pay considerably more too so not sure if it's worth fighting

My property value went up $9,200. First time it went up in 5 years. Taxes only went up about $20 with the Over 65 exemption.
