Anyone know anything about this builder? Sounds like they are new to the area and have 3 neighborhoods around San Antonio.

Layouts look interesting, just no idea on quality and experiences working with them.

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks,

Jeff

Mercedes homes is trying to make a big splash in SA. From what I've seen, they're pretty solid homes. They're trying to do a lot of things to distinguish themselves from the other high-end production builders. Namely, they're taking some of the features that would be upgrades elsewhere and making them standard. Not all of them, but some. Things like kitchen appliances. I've helped a few clients negotiate and buy/build some high-end production homes and from what I see so far, I wouldn't have any problem putting a client in a Mercedes. I'm pretty harsh on builders and won't put a client into a home that I feel is sub-par. If I have any dealings with them in the near future, which is very possible, and my opinion changes, I'll definitely let you know though.

Heard that they had many unhappy customers in the Florida area whose homes were damaged by heavy winds, etc. which were chalked up to poor construction. Google Mercedes Homes Florida and see if you can find it.

I was in the Mercedes model home the other day looking around with a friend of mine who is moving from CA. They have some nice designs but what really got my attention was the neighborhood.

We were in Mountain Lodge and from what I remember, this used to be Newmark. The sales rep told us Mercedes purchased the land from Newmark.

I'm not trying to start anything here but when we took a drive around the neighborhood, it was in poor shape. We stayed on the right side of the subdivision and the yards were overgrown with weeds, broken fences, houses needing paint. Overall, the neighborhood was looking bad.

I was very shocked to see this b/c I had been out there approx 2 yr ago looking at Newmark model homes.

Do they not have an active HOA? If I lived out there, I would be very disappointed after paying within that price point. It was shocking, does anyone take pride in their homes? Geez!

I don't know who would want to buy a 400k home with views of rows of 'rental looking' homes.
