Seriously considering getting this done soon and would like some first hand experiences with this place. Also, how much can I expect to spend?

i did, he is just a money maker who flies in once or twice a month for 3 hours. HE does not do any test on you to see if you qualified for the procedure
the doctor who so called evaluates you is a joke. I think they are on there 4-5th so called optometrist.
they are just a money making farm that is all, and good luck trying to talk to the doctor if you have a problem like i did. All they say is it will clear up or just wait longer. I finally had to go to another doctor out of my own pocket who told me the tear in my eye is not repairable .

best of luck.

I had lasik done apx 9-10 years ago at TLC with Dr. Stuart Terry ... I was considered legally blind without corrective lenses with vision at 20/800 in both eyes ... TLC was amazing ... They show you a film showing you exactly how the procedure is done and you can even watch an actual procedure if you choose to do that ...

On the day of the procedure they give you a pill to relax you if you want to take one, I took it... They had to leave the laser on my eyes a bit longer than normal since my vision was so bad ... But as soon as I was done and sat up my 20/800 vision was 20/65 ... The next day I went in for my follow up and I was at 20/20 ... The following week I was 20/15 ...

Now I knew going into the surgery that I would still need reading glasses later in life, the doctors advised me of this before surgery ... Now, 10 years later, at 42, I am noticing that I have to hold things a bit further away, so I am sure readers are not far, but again, Lasik cannot fix needing readers ... But my overall vision is still 20/20

I highly recommend TLC although, I do believe, that Dr Stuart Terry, has opened his own business ... I would get quotes from both TLC and from Dr. Terry's practice ... 10 years ago I paid $4800, $2400 an eye...

I didn't have LASIk but PRK with dr manrique. It was in McAllen and I had successfully bid on a live auction item for LASIK. When I went to my consultation with him, he did evaluate my eyes and said that he couldn't do the LASIC because my corneas were too thin, but that I was a candidate for PRK. He was great when I saw him...did all my follow ups with him. He cracks me up because he's always smiling...like a character from the Simpsons or Family Guy or something.

I liked him and think that my eye surgery was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I do not regret using Dr. Manrique. Oh and this was about 6-7 years ago.

Read ALL the pro/con literature before undertaking this, there can be a downside (even in the best surgeons hands) for SOME people.
That being said I had mine with Dr Tomy Starck Ultravisión Lasik San Antonio in the late 90's BEFORE the data about dry eyes and other complications started surfacing as the number of practitioners and procedures began to multiply. Personally I have been delighted with my results, and continue to see Dr Starck as my ophthalmologist.
