This post is going to open a can of worms. I don't like tattoos either, but I personally know a few people that have them and don't hate them for it. I hope that my daughter never gets one. I try to set the example, sine I don't have any, but I almost got one when I was in my teens.

and yes they made the choice good for them, but now they have to live with the choice they made. some people will judge you for it, just like people who dress like slobs. you chose to do it so live with it.

this is like being born black, where you had no choice in the matter. But when you go out shooting people, selling drugs and acting like a thug. You have decided for yourself to live like that. and you will be treated like that

if you want to dress, act like a thug then you will be treated like a thug
Conversely, if you are going to act whiney...

Tattoos no longer seem to have the stigma they once held. Once they were the domain of criminals and sailors alone.

Unsure when they started becoming mainstream.

They do not appeal to me and neither do conversations about them so there is not much more for me to say.

It is whining that is a bigger plague to humanity than tattoos imo.

Not even if they were the best around?

You have no problem having a conversation or "whining" about clothing and fashion choices people make here in San Antonio but a problem about discussion of tattoos?

Not even the same thing. It's like hating someone because of their jewelry, or their hairstyle, or clothing.

It's their personal preference and says nothing at all about the type of person they are.

You can't judge a book by it's cover.

kinda awesome.

And for what it is worth... I know a microbiologist, architect(s), librarian, teacher(s), etc. etc. with tattoos. Heck, my kid's elementary school has teachers that have ones that are visible at all times.

If they are well done and meaningful vs. just trendy, I can appreciate them. I will admit that there are some that I just say to myself, "why?"

Funny thing is that my older kid doesn't care too much for them because "you can't change them easily." It will be interesting to see if his generation tries to be different and abstains because "all the old people have them."

I would prefer that people stick to inking themselves as opposed to applying the same artistic license to public and private property with cans of spray paint. We still live in a free country, and people have the ability to make their own decisions, despite the opinions of others.
