Blue Angels were the best and the FA18 just kicks so much butt in flight. Impressive is an understatement.

Arrow Air Show

Thanks for the heads up about the air show @ Randolph A.F.B.. Hopefully we'll try to make it out there. The air shows are very impressive and exciting to watch. I have seen the Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, and the Golden Knights. Do take ear protection just in case and portable seating.

I'm guessing that they were practicing for the air show.
Sometimes we get foreign aircraft at these shows and what you saw might have been a courtesy escort.

Ooh - the schedule shows an A10 demo... and a Mig17.

If you haven't been and are at ALL interested you should go. The planes fly low and close, and it's VERY impressive. Earplugs are a must - when that F22 turns it's afterburners towards you and guns it, your LIVER hears it...

I see where "Glacier Girl", a P-38 plane that is owned by locally based Lewis Energy will be on display. This plane landed in Greenland during WW II and after being buried under 300' of ice for 50 years, it was recovered and reconditioned. This is one of 15 or so vintage planes owned by Lewis Energy(or its' owner). It was purchased in 2007 for 5.5m and another several million to finish rebuilding. Too bad it's not scheduled to fly.

Here is the flightaware page for Randolph. It looks like the Mig 17 and a couple civilian aircraft have already arrived. The military aircraft won't show on this page.
