sodon'tiI is on a distinguished road
Cool I am another Bostonian. Trying to figure out where we are moving to. Hubby will be training on base (can't remember which on but in SA). Got laid off from his job last day in mid April and then happens to be training for 3months. Appears that it will work for him to find a job in Texas and then we will come down towards end of summer. Now. SA is really large. My husband and I are coutry bumpkins. We need to find a town that is a blue collar town, affordable. (have a mortagage up here on a condo) will have renters. So, we think we will rent find what areas we like and then if he has a job think about buying. We have a child so this home invasion and people being scared is bugging me. I am about 20 minutes in either direction could make it to a city that has crime, and 20 minutes in another other directions to gorgeous million dollar homes. So putting it into perspective I can't see SA being that diff. from the rest of America or at least Masssachusetts. Everywhere there are bad areas. Massachusetts and New Hampshire along with New York and Connecticut have pushy drivers also. I welcome heat over freezing subbelow windchills wacking you and frostbiting everyinch oftheway anyday!
Two ?'s I have we are looking into Lone Oak. There appears to be two Lone Oaks on the map. One about 3 hours away from SA and the other not too far. Is one a street? Some houses seem incredible for the prices that they are asking for. If you ever check out the realestate here you'd understand why I am in such shock. But my ? is this a good indicator that the property taxes might be sky high with such a low asking price? I understand Texans do not pay an income tax and that property taxes are assessed by the area and not your house alone. I will be doing loads of research and believe that this forum will be where I'll get most of my info. Thanks for your time!
