I would just like to encourage everyone to please take the time and effort to vote today!

Texas has 16 Constitutional proposals and some local issues that require your ballot. MySA.com (broken link) is a great source for election info, as is Wikipedia's page on the Texas Constitutional Amendment Election 2007.

As an added bonus, if you have young kids and can take them with you, do so and set a positive example of civic duty!

And thanks to everyone who takes the time and effort to make their voice heard! You are real Texans!

Cheers! M2

As far as I know, yes. Not sure if there was early voting, but that would be moot at this point anyway...

And thanks for voting, debdeb525!

Cheers! M2

First thing I did this morning was hit the polls, no waiting, no long lines.
Vote early, vote often.

I also did my duty and voted today

I have to say most -- operative word: most -- of the propositions were very nice ones today

So with 56% of the precincts reporting, so far 8% of the eligible voters actually voted.

I voted this afternoon, around 4:00pm. I was told out of the 4000 voters in the precinct, just over 50 had voted. This three hours before the polls closed.

And it looks like all the proposed amendments will pass. Interesting.

Cheers! M2

Ohhnnnnn!!! SHOOT!!
I completely forgot!! I made it a point to get my DL changed, my car registered and registered to vote, very soon after I got here in 2006, a year ago now.....

and then it just slips right past me....
I AM a voter, I think it is a privilege that should never ever be taken for granted and rarely ignored.... (I did deliberately sit out a specific election in California once... but other than that..... too many people gave up way too much so that we could do this..... Plus, it's often our ONLY input).....

Final numbers, a whopping 6.2% of registered voters went to the polls. All proposed constitutional amendments passed.

We are fighting for democracy all over the globe, and I persoanlly devoted almost a quarter of a century of my life to it; but most can't be bothered with it at home. I have to say I am not only disappointed, but embarassed. It took me all of ten minutes to vote, and that was longer than it should have taken as I brought my 5th grade son along to instill the importance of civic duty into him. The lack of voters didn't emphasize the point too much...but he is a good kid and I believe in another eight years he will be one of the few that makes the effort.

If anything, if just a few people resolve to vote next time, I would be happy. If a lot of people make that decision, I would be happier!

Cheers! M2
