Craigslist brings a host of different folks in.....from those you should run from to those you'd LOVE to be friends with The challenge is separating the two!

We posted some stuff up from time to time, and the results have (usually) been good - but there's been just enough nut cases to keep me on my toes....like the lady that wanted to buy our 9-piece teak Danish dining room set for $100 vs the $500 we advertised it at....but ONLY if I'd deliver and place it in San Antonio! But MOST of the time, we've had good folks that simply were looking for a good deal - and it worked out for all.

To me, the challenge w/listing RE on CL is the folks that seem to specialize in either using the "visit" to case the place, or that you find out (no matter WHAT you put in the ad) have a background that makes them very risky to rent to. Had a friend I was helping rent out a place when he had to relocate suddenly, and one of the folks that came was anxious to move in by that weekend - because they were being evicted for not paying their rent!

What about HotPads, PadMapper, Oodle, Trulia, Rentlinx, and Vast, also online newspaper classified, rental magazines, homefinders' or apartment-finding services, real estate offices, neighborhood flyers, putting out a "For Rent" sign , student housing sites, military housing, word of mouth, your workplace, etc.

i hate hate hate hate hate hate this!!!!

'oh ill buy your item, but i want it at this price (usually a fraction of what you have it listed as) and you have to meet me at x place'

thats a gigantic red flag for a RESELLER.

i simply ignore emails like that now and delete them as soon as i see the lowball. i wish there was an intelligent email filter that would pick up on just lowballers and delete the emails before you read them. the guy who codes that will be rich...

i pretty much refuse to do deliveries unless its in the dominion, stone oak, alamo heights or some affluent neighborhood. everywhere else just seems to have flakes. granted, ive been flaked on in those neighborhoods as well, but a much lower % when compared to the rest of san antonio.

love google maps...
