If I had the very unique skill to "make a living by running around in a giant air conditioned stadium and throwing a rubber ball through a net" I would take full advantage. I would also give back to my community the way the overwhelming majority of elite athletes do.

Judging those who are successful and generalizing about them is as bad as judging those who are not as successful.

I got to throw a wrench in here. It's so easy to give money away when you're making tons of money. Bill Gates giving billions a way...well sure, if I had billions I would, too. Bono being the good samaritan because he gave millions away? Yep, easy when you still have 100x more than what you give away.

Now, my friends...the everyday working folks..the ones that can hardly get by....when you look at them give away about 20-30% of their salary to the poor, charity, etc...those are the real heroes. Try it sometime. You're a middle income family, 5 kids...can barely afford medical insurance...and you give a couple hundred dollars away to someone that needs it...not very easy to do when in some cases, you need it more.

Sorry for the rant...just a pet peeve of mine how people hold athletes, celebrities, the rich, etc in high regard because they gave more money away than the average Joe. In retrospect, I shouldn't be complaining because I can do so much better, too. I'm working on it.

Most rich athletes do what they should do, they give back to the community. I'm not holding them in high regard, I'm also not going to generalize and say they're spoiled and don't deserve what they have. I was responding to a generalization about all athletes and all wealthy successful people.

A wealthy person giving to his/her community shouldn't have to pay for the fact that they're financially successful. It's no less important than someone in the middle class giving to their community. A lot of them not only give money but they give their time as well.

I agree that giving your time...worthwhile time...is just as good as money. Athletes are often required in their contract to give back to the community for PR purposes.

"While yes we have many people here living in poverty. We also have a lot that aren't poor at all. But you could not tell that from there house. (Look in the drive way and you will see how much money they have.) Honestly i don't really see that many run down areas if any outside 410." The statement above is from another poster I just wanted to let other know because sometimes we can get the wrong point.
I think we need to rethink how we think from the poster above . I know a number of wealthy people that don't have nice cars usually they have modest cars. And that is why they have money. I know doctors, lawyers that drive a basic car not the highend . But what I have seen is people who live in not so great communities that purchase highend cars and live in a apartment or not so very nice home rich peope usually save not saying you should not enjoy your life but you should look at where you invest your money if you are struggling. My point is you cannot judge how much money someone has by the type of car they have in front of there house.

I vote that "Not a member's" threads should have a DNR mandate. I don't think Hyun-Soo is concerned much these days with our experiences with the Dominion.

FWIW, there are different reasons the "Not a member" tag appears on accounts. Not all of them are permanent or negative. That's the case with Hyun-Soo.
