I am a stay at home mom and have two boys, 4 years and 9 months...I have many questions and any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciate..
1. Looking for a great area to live with neighborhoods with young families(we are in our early 30's with 2 small boys)...in 300-400,000 price range..traffic is a concern for my husband but like i said he will be traveling all over.
2. wanted your thoughts on school districts..i have heard nisd and neisd are good--what are some good neigborhoods in these school districts
3. what are your thoughts on the stone oak area..it has been recommended to us
4. outdoor parks to take my son with playground
5. Family physician as well as pediatrician and OBGYN
6. This my be humerous to you but also looking for good hairdressor
7. Good websites that let you know current events and activities going on in the city.

Here's a link to the article he's mentioning:
MySA.com: Metro | State
I'm thinking the adjacent graphic showing "average home prices" for some neighborhoods is going to reignite the whole "where the rich people live" thread.

The back-up on 1604 trying to get off at Stone Oak Pkwy at rush hour is ridiculous. It really is bad so if traffic is a concern, you may want to avoid this area.
The NW side might work for you. It seems like there is less traffic on that side than North Central.
As for a pediatrician, Dr. Shelly McNair was recommended to me and she is wonderful. She is in the Medical Center area. She called me on a Sunday when my son was vomiting and her bedside manner is wonderful.
I can't recommend any other docs or hairstylists because I haven't found them yet, either.
Welcome!

Check out 78209. Excellent school district (IMO, the best in town), little traffic, parks, restaurants, museums. Great area for families. I would never live outside of 410 on the N, NW, NE sides - the traffic is terrible. For 300,000 - 400,000 you can find a great place in 78209.

A good hairdresser is harder to find than a good ob/gyn. I finally found one after being here a year. Her name is Tiffany and she's at the Truesdell Salon at Heubner and IH10 210-342-5226. She's wonderful.

I shave my head. Eliminated the 'hairdresser" problem quickly.

We lived in Papillion for a few years then moved down here. I think you will be happy with NISD or NEISD . I moved up to Austin in June but we liked in Hart Ranch at DeZavala and 10 and it was very easy to get to things you might want to look out in Lean Springs area also. Since we were on the NW side we went to Dr. Lantry in the Medical center area and loved him! I wished he would have packed and moved up here with us! I second Trues Dell I went to Jonathan and he was great. Pedi dentist, Dr. Bob James can't be beat in SA. He is on Huebner loved his practice! Pedi allergist- Dr. Dennis Dilley he works on adults and we all loved him! Had my son at University up in Omaha so no help there. Remember you don't have to think about snow or ice driving down here!

I don't have any recs since we are still getting re-acclimated to the area (I grew up here off and on as a kid), but just wanted to say Welcome. We moved back here from Omaha as well. House is still for sale up there, too (in Ralston) - has been for sale for 3 months as have about 10 other homes in our neighborhood in the same price range. We can't start looking to buy a home here until our house there sells.
Anyway, welcome and good luck with everything.
