YEah I found that story online...

DALLAS (AP) - D.R. Horton says orders for new homes fell 39 percent and cancellations rose in the last quarter.

Chairman Donald Horton says he's expecting the housing market "to remain challenging."

I guess that means a lot of the real estate property is going to go down, not just DR Horton.

Yes, the sales office is still on site. I'm not sure if they sold to another builder, that's what I'd like to find out, but there wasn't any mention in the article I found.

50% cancellation rate is becoming more and more common. The Home builders are going to have to start seriously lowering their prices so that people can afford to sell their homes in this down market.

Default DR Horton will not be the last

According to some friends that have lived in SA since the 1960's this same thing happened about 20 years ago. You had builders clearing lots as quickly as possible. Then one day they were all gone, they had gone bankrupt. One only has to look at Culebra road. There is no way that this level of growth can be sustained in this short of period.

It's good news for us though. I hope they stop all the building. It will give our politicians a chance to get the traffic right. Hopefully, they won't fall asleep at the wheel again!

Everyone who built in Alamo ranch should feel blessed that we have our community centers before the big hurt happens.

While I feel sorry for those in WolfCreek, I'm sure they can find a new home somewhere, there are several available in the Ryland home neighborhoods in Alamo ranch.

Default D.R. Horton----Buyer BEWARE!!!

I live in Wolf Creek and we don't necessarly need to look for new homes just a new builder that cares about the community. Horton screwed up by leveling all these lots because of the big housing boom for the bast 2 years now the owners who were promised a community have been dropped on our faces. The community is awesome and a lot of us are military who work at Lackland AFB. We're just 15 mins from work, 10 mins from Sea World and now about 15 mins from Alamo Ranch retail area.

Horton first tried to backdoor the homeowners by trying to sell lower grade housing just to sell the property which in turn would have destroyed our property value. I guess in the end they still did just that. Their home construction may be top notch but I'll buy a crack shack down by the river before I ever to business with them again. Make sure you tell your friends to stay away from Horton no matter how good of a deal they promise. In the end they will not fallow through.

Good luck with that. This is business. No builder cares about your community. They may want you to believe that, but it's all about money.

I think Horton made the mistake on bulding to close to Marbach, along with the current conditions? I would pull out too if I was losing my butt to a cold market and still had to sell 300 lots. They would have been there forever bleeding money,in addition to this news I have heard the Horton sold off Phase II of Redbird ranch and Cutbacks like crazy. Good luck to you Wolf Creekers.
