Default A recounting, Soviet,

It is Fun, but these are daredevils that are performing stunts on crowded public streets all over the country, I am dubious of this statement. Just look at that cyclist tailgating the pickup in your video.
Police Depts. call these daredevil gangs. Cops can't can't catch the crotch rockets because they are too fast and too maneuverable. To pursue these lawbreakers would endanger the driving pubic so cops quickly give up pursuit.
Sometimes these nuts gather in force doing wheelies in groups and other such stunts and endanger the public all over the country.
I am guilty of drag racing motorcycles, I admit, in fun. However.......not like these people do.

Two friends of mine, both Harley riders have seen examples of these types of nuts wipe out and cause great bodily injury to themselves. These sometimes like to toy with the big and far less quick and maneuverable Harleys. Darting by them, back and forth, down the highway, taunting.
One time a few years ago, friend Tim, was out on his old Harley police motorcycle for a cruise out I-10, and had one of these people- types- run by him just out I-10 at a very high rate of speed- on only the front tire . This is accomplished by riding the front brake lever very lightly with a gentle touch to lift the back wheel off the ground and balance the bike on only the front wheel.
As this nut passed Tim on the freeway, Six hundred feet or so further up the highway- headed out of town near the Leon Springs exit, buddy Tim (RIP) watched as this same guy lost control of the the sport motorcycle and tumble the bike very badly and ended up in a great deal of pain lying on the freeway surface. Tim brought to a stop his big old Police bike on the shoulder and tried to lend medical aid. Fortunately help was already on its' way via his own riding buddies who had by this time caught up with him.

Yet another, very long time friend was riding out near Garner Park on Highway 1050 I believe it was-on the route back to town when out of nowhere one of these same types came recklessly flying by him and quickly fell out of sight down the winding hill country road in reckless abandon and, a few miles and a few minutes later up the road , guess what had happened?
There the guy lay on the side of the highway well off the shoulder in the grass, badly injured and in a crumpled mess. The motorcycle? Crumpled up also, a shredded, twisted mass of metal and plastic up against some trees and the fence line.
Friend stopped to lend medical aid and called EMS from the side of the road to come quickly, and that this guy needed airlifting ( has medical training) to a hospital -because this guy was really, really messed up with very severe, injuries and was in a great deal of pain.
Within a few minutes with the hapless fellow lying there in the dirt at their feet - his riding partners showed up and so- he left the scene after first informing the riders that aid- was already on its' way.
After leaving this horrible scene and stopping at a convenience store a little way further up the highway, this friend of many years informed the guy in the store, the clerk behind the register, about the scene just back the State highway a little ways, the "poor guy". "I think he will suffer permanent injuries from this."
The clerk wryly replied. " It happens all the time out here."

Anyone else stuck in the mess on I-10 at UTSA this morning? I spent about 45 minutes staring at COSTCO. I left home around 5:50AM, got to I-10E and 1604 around 6, and saw the massive triangle of brake lights converging onto the exit ramp for UTSA, where SAPD was diverting all traffic with I-10E closed. Despite what KENS5 is reporting, it looked like the hit and run driver that caused the second accident was on the frontage road, and not I-10E when the accident began. After the light at UTSA on the access road, there are skid marks from the left lane of the access road that align with the metal guard where it looks like the driver lost control on the left lane of the access road, hit the inside leading edge of the metal guard rail, and then drug it out onto the main lanes of I-10E. The victims car was upside down against the concrete barrier outside the left lane of I-10E. Local stations are reporting the driver responsible, who has since succumbed to his injuries, was involved in a crash at I-10 and 1604, fled the scene, and then caused the second accident involving at least three other vehicles. Reports indicate none of the other drivers were injured.

It was a total mess. Amplified by everyone that was frustrated, cutting in line, trying to squeeze in at the last possible minute, cutting across the Valero, etc. etc.

Get in line, move through, we'll all get there eventually.

It is getting really dangerous out there driving.

Today I was at a red light on Callaghan rd just before Chacos when I see this Audi SUV coming up really fast in my rear view mirror and I preparing to brace myself to be rear ended when at the last minute (because he couldn't stop in time) swerves into the opposite lane to go around me nearly colliding head on with the traffic in the opposite lane. Crazy. Probably distracted by his phone.

It's always been dangerous and now texting while driving makes it more so.

It may not go fast, but I'll feel safer!

Default Subject ;pedestrians,

Last night I watched a news report which said that fatalities involving pedestrians struck by automobiles
was up 10% over the number two years ago.
It seems that pedestrians are too busy texting to look up and both ways before attempting to cross the street. Keep on walking and texting.
The statistic increase happened mostly, in suburban and rural areas the news report included.

It struck me immediately when I moved to San Antonio how there's a pedestrian a day getting struck crossing the road. Crosswalks people, crosswalks.

Traffic lights at 1604 & 281 are out. It's a disaster zone. Will upload video when I'm home. If it's not looped over first!
