Hi everyone, I am a moderate skill level when it comes to cars, however I need a new valve cover gasket on my truck. I wouldn't be able to do this on my own, what places would you recommend and trust in San Antonio? Thanks again! 2003 Trailblazer LT. It doesn't matter what part of town I am willing to drive to a good place.

Section of town please, or intersection near where you live? You don't want to drive half-way across town after all. Good can be found in different places and for different cars. Make and model would help as well.

Cornerstone Automotive, near the intersection of West Bitters and Blanco roads, gets all of my auto repair business. I've taken vehicles there and been advised not to bother with the repair. The repairs they have done were reasonably priced. I trust this place because they've proven over and over that they're worthy of my trust.

Mander Automotive in Helotes does a spectacular job with repairs. Bob always calls to let me know what they did when the vehicle is ready.

Wow, Paul is looking kind of old now

I used to deal with his father for a/c work at the family home after his dad had went on to teach air conditioning at a local high school (I had a car lot). I only got to know Paul after his dad retired and he opened his first location. I've got to say that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Not only did he put up with a few things from me that other mechanics wouldn't have, he also personally did work on a car I brought in that was a difficult job because he wanted to make sure it was done correctly (I should mention that I had already done everything that would have considered gravy to the job, i.e. removed the profitability). This was after he had moved to his second location and was well established and didn't have to get dirty anymore. At the time he was working on county sheriff's cars, that requires a degree of reputation and reliability.

Mostly I do my own work on cars, having done it for a living once, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paul because in my dealings with his entire family I found them to be upright and honest people who were dedicated to doing things correctly, as opposed to parting you with your cash.

I'm glad you reminded me of him, I'm going to give him a call next spring when I begin to finish a few projects I am working on.
