Driving on 1604 in the morning between Bandera and 151 is just unbelievable some drivers are so rude and dangerous. Just scares me. I remember when 1604 was "out in the country". I miss those days. So afraid it is only gonna get worse.

Yep. It will get worse. Hopefully they expand 1604 and make it a true freeway. But gone are the days of 1604 being out in the country. Wait until the growth hits 46. :-/

yup, there was an accident this morning heading northbound. mustang hit an older tundra.
tundra - 1 ... mustang 0

there is another thread here recently that talks about the overpasses they are going to be building to help alleviate traffic on 1604 in the area.

Well, it'll get worse before it gets better but that'll happen sooner than later as construction will begin next year that will turn 1604 between bandera and Culebra into a freeway.

I never drive 1604 as a rule. There has never been a time when I haven't been stopped bumper to bumper, slowly steaming out of a spot in the middle of my forehead.

Down Culebra to 410 is another little spot of hell on earth. It takes about 30 minutes to get to 410 if you start up near the HEB.

Yes! It is ridiculous. I remember way back when 1604 was 2 tiny lanes side by side. Now, 30 years later they have added one extra lane on both sides..... no forethought to the growth in the area, nothing... as usual. It's like trying to cram a round of swiss cheese into a flippin' wine bottle.

I think the population growth in that area is way beyond the infrastructure because the growth has occurred so quickly. By the time they get it sufficient for the current traffic they will need to increase capacity again. This occurs in other places as well, but it does make it a major hassle to get through that area. I wonder how much better that transition from 1604/151 and Alamo Ranch/151 would be if it wasn't for that damn SPIDER!!! The other intersection that is a complete mess in the morning is 151/410. At the current rate, traffic will be backed up from there, all the way to 1604 within a year. I guess we'll all have to get up a little bit earlier

exactly. not sure why they make you get off 151 and go to a light to get on 410. need an overpass here, but i'm no engineer. same goes for 410 getting on 151. sure, let's exit and drive through a shopping center in order to get back on the highway. :/

The highway system here is the worst I have ever driven on. I swear some of it was designed by chimps.
