I have been trying to find something about the trollley that is proposed for downtown. They are are talking about almost 300 million dollars and suspecting it may go higher. The city has a population of 1.36 million according to what I just pulled up so that means a debt of little over $220.00 dollars for every man woman and child in the the city of San Antonio so there can be a trolley car system for downtown. You could provide 11 taxi rides free ( at $20.00 each) to every person (man women or child) in the city of SA for that much money it just doesnt make economic sense to me. What is wrong with the trolley buses, When they were introduced back in the late 70"s or early 80"s they were supposed to be the answer to the traffic problems downtown now we need "Real Rail" trolley cars and boy won't that be fun for the people who have to work downtown on a daily basis while they tear up the streets. Is it too late to reject this folly.

You live in boerne? Your opinion loses almost any validation if that's the case.

Also add to that it was voted down by the voters here when it was called light rail. So they changed the name to streetcars and are going ahead with it anyway. Plus they are around 80 million dollars short on this deal not counting the usual cost overruns.

I disagree, someone from out of SA who can see the absurdity of this project is more than welcome to comment. The cost of this project far out ways the benefits.

It seems that any opinions outside of “San Antonio” are not validated or welcomed as usual. That’s where the problem lies.

Even the opinions "inside" of San Antonio aren't welcome or valid, so what difference dose it make?

It has never worked anywhere in the country. Look at VIA, those buses are always empty. Rail cars will be a mess. But politicians don't care if it will not work.

But if will create more jobs says the peoples who believe in big government like Mayor Castro and Barry Soetero.

But don't you worry, VIA decided on the most expensive plan. Former US Rep. Charlie Gonzalez's (D-San Antonio) idea.

That really depends on the side of town. The buses out this way are always packed.
