The part that sickened me was the bit in the paper over the weekend that Godwin's half-assed protestations of innocence got a standing ovation. I mean, really.

I think the thing that I personally find most disheartening is that ok...they get caught doing whatever it is they do, but the congregration stands behind them, makes excuses for them, and refuses to hold them accountable for their actions.
Man, it is one thing if they are lying/hiding out/doing this stuff BEHIND everyones back without the knowledge of their flock...but how brainwashed are these folks to support them vs removing them from the leadership of the church??? For them to sand up, support and say "oh yea sure, you don't know all the story/the paper, story/reporter all lie" and stand behind these SERIOUS wrongdoers just REENFORCES this type of behavior. These "flocks" seem more attached to their "leader" than their God.
If our church pastor was involved in anything like this, I feel confident that he would be immediately removed from that position of leadership. You can not lead when you yourself are lost. If for some reason I am incorrect and the board of the church would support his position and allow him to remain (as in either case with Eagles Nest or Family Praise) I would sure be out of there in a NY second....not my kind of church to say, "Oh well" over such scandulous behavior. While I would have no issue in him remaining part of the church, it would certainly not be acceptable for any type of "leadership" roll...but for healing and guidance and counseling (not that I think either one of these yahoo's are interested in any of that!).
It certainly reminds you of the "David Koresh or Jim Jones" type of mentatility...I will follow you whereever you lead master....yea, right down the garden path!

Well said. I attended a church that removed a pastor from leadership for much less...and they were right to do it.

God does not take kindly to people who judge either. If you worked for him are you possibly the one who went to the media to begin with? I think all you people who are judging this man are cruel and callaus and you should be ashamed of yourselves!

He is like Hagee - in that he is building a personal empire - but he is more open about his lavish lifestyle.
He is a showman and con-man...and he knows it. God will not deal kindly with men who use the Bible for their own personal gain. The sad thing is many skeptics will say all churches are like that - when in reality most are not. He brings shame to the name of Christ - as do his entire family and leadership of the church.
Really sad.

Are you not judging the people on this board, as well?
Everything in darkness will come to light. Apparently, Pastor Rick's time has come.
