i dont think its a matter of whether or not they could have one.
you could put a light rail line in San Angelo if you wanted too.
Its whether or not it would be a wise use of $$$.
Do you really think its better to spend hundreds of millions to build a rail line, then millions more per yr to subsidize it, than to maybe improve the school system?
there is only so much money to go around...

It isn't like BRT is much cheaper. You will actually be paying more for BRT (gas, etc.) and then switching over to LRT than just putting in LRT in the first place.

San Antonions, like most Texas love their independence and their cars, I just don't see more riderships on the trains. For instance put the light rail stations at Borgfeld @ 281 and Evans @ 281, how many people who live in that area would use it? They still have tho make those $600.00 a month payments on the SUV

Yes there are alot of people who work in the downtown area but just about every one who actully work there have cars and car payments just like imaterry78259 said earlier and as long as people have cars they will use it. Also along with that it would cost alot of money which would increase city tax further throwing it back to the drawing broad and then since almost everybody in San Antonio depends on cars already and owns there own personal car then why take a public transportation. why wait for the LRT when you can take a drive on your own time of course the gas prices will keep going up which would force more people to depend on public transportation so I think we should do it so we can be prepared for the fulture and so we can show that we are up to date in our progression as a major city.

Actually, the city nor VIA could give any amount of money to any school district. The schools fall under the state not the city.

Trains don't take long. In Houston during the weekday, they come every 5-15 minutes (depending on what time of day it is).

similar to buses then. but thats still too long I mean when you have your own car you can get in insert key and go at your own will and own route.this also gives people a feel of independence as well. of course there are people who can't afford cars here in San Antonio and there are many in San Antonio too which is why even at the cost of all this I am for the LRT cause with the rise in gase there will be more people who will have to depend on these motives.

Well, maybe you don't have gas money (or want to save money). Just take the LRT in.

New flash to everybody not everybody has a car. And I doubt that the majority of people in San Antonio has a car.
