NISD is also a fantastic school district.
It's the largest and fastest going in SA (82,000; 4,000/yr) with I believe three new high schools either under construction or planned.

It also depends on what you mean by "good schools". That's really subjective, depends on your values as a family.
There are several charter school options in SA. Some are awful. Others are fine. We've gone with that option for our kids, which means we can live anywhere in town without worrying about the schools where we live, and the kids are in a small, "private school" setting with low student-teacher ratios and it doesn't cost a penny aside from the gas to get them there.
This has been the one factor that made a difference for my teenage son and kept him from having the "typical" middle school experience. He is now in high school and very happy. We can move tomorrow to the other side of town and it won't affect anything, aside from meaning we have to get up a little earlier.

More info about charter schools please
Hi. Can you tell me a little more about the charter schools available? I was wondering if there was such a thing in San Antonio. When I lived in Arizona there were many charter schools and that is where my daughter went. What is the best way to find out about the programs available? I'm not in San Antonio yet but anticipate moving there next summer. I'm worried about finding a good school for my kids.
Thanks for any information you have!

SAA (San Antonio Academy) is a really good all boys school to go to. We go to St. George Episcopal School right now and looked at SAA. next door to it is Keystone which is very good. SAA has a great summer program also.

Thks Neddy, I went and researched a little on Keystone. It seemed like it is a pretty good school, academically too. Any comments on Keystone?
