I'm suprised that Blockbuster has lasted this long. I used to frequent the one on Walzem Rd. across from Roosevelt High School. Of course the videos were VHS back then. I think it is now a Subway.

I havent seen a list of where the 50 franchises (staying open) are located. The last article I saw at least showed that 26 of those 50 are located in Alaska (13) and along the Texas/Mexican border (13) - which is kind of funny because the same guy owns all 26.

That only leaves 24 franchises for the entire country so I am going to go out on a limb and say that the S. Flores location is closing.

According to the San Antonio Business Journal, all local stores are closing.

For those of you complaining about late fees, how is it any different than a library charging you late fees for returning a book late?

It was a business (one that I miss too) that made it's money from movie rentals, each day you did not return the movie past it's due date, it needed to make up the lost profit somehow.

Didn't they let you keep the movies for like 5 days and 5 nights since around 1998? How long did people think they needed to watch a movie before returning it?

A sign went up at the one on Jackson Keller that said the same thing, "this location only.." I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean when it's every store...
