Thanks for the heads up on these. I didn't know there were any truck lots closer than Boardwalk and downtown.

The way I interpreted the article was not that San Antonio already has the highest number of food trucks per capita or that the ones that do exist are somehow better than those elsewhere, only that the San Antonio market was the best place to open a new food truck based on market analysis. Sort of a misleading headline.

That being said, it is nice to go to the Point Park and Eats and enjoy the offerings from various trucks and the bar service from the brick and mortar building. My favorite regular truck at The Point is Texasada, fantastic food and friendly people is hard to beat.

I ate at the food truck on Goliad Rd. on the southeast side last night, believe it is called Tacos Allende. The food was delicious and the price was great (four carne asada tacos with grilled onions, chopped fresh onion, cilantro, lime and salsa for $4). This place has been around for awhile and always has business, but they only open in the evenings. Also, their quesadillas with carne asada are good and cost $1.50 each.

+1 for the smoke shack at naco/410 (i think the full name is "conger's smoke shack"). That is one of the few places in town where i don't feel like i'm getting ripped off paying $8 for a bbq plate. Their potato salad is very unique and flavorful as well, simple but good.

I consider myself some what of a "food truck aficionado".

Upon moving to SA, my wife and I spent one year living in Santa Monica, CA where we "discovered" food trucks. In the year we were there, we ate at 272 unique LA and Orange county "gourmet" food trucks. (We did not count the many taco trucks that roam the city) That works out to about two trucks every three days!!!! We even kept a spreadsheet and estimated number of LA/OC food trucks in order to know where we stood in our quest to eat at them all.

Yeah, we're a little nuts. But I did travel all over the city and got to know it well while pursuing our goal. We also tried to eat from the menu what the truck was known for. No buying a bottle of water or a side and counting the truck as visited.

We also took three pictures at each truck. One of the truck, one of the food we tried and one of my wife holding the food. So yes, if need be, I can prove it :-)
