has anyone been to Mr. and Mrs. G's and Mama Lee's? I'd like to know how they compare.
There was a new on @ Marbach and Military called Tonya's, but I heard it closed down quick. The food was ok, but it was a Mama Lee's clone except the food didn't compare.

As for Soul Food, try MK Davis on North Flores.

Bay Seas on W.W. White Road will have Chittlings & the works for New Year's Eve, December 31, 2010. The cashier gave me a thought - Buy the food on New Year's Eve and reheat on New Year's Day! What a thought! Mama Lee's on Valley High Drive will be closed and so will the Montgomery Drive restaurant & Mr. & Mrs. G's on W. W. Whte Road will be closed. I don't know of any other Soul Food Restaurants in San Antonio that will have Soul Food for New Year's.

Soul food cracks me up. Where I come from, we just calls it food.

Definition of Soul food: Soul food, a term coined in the 1960's by Afro-Americans in the South and referring to traditional home-cooked foods such as chitterlings, hamhocks, and collard greens, reminds all of us, regardless of our ethnic roots, of the power of home, of feeling connected to our culture, and of the significance of passing down through family and friends over generations our wisdom and our stories: the soulful expressions of our people.

But you have to admit, those are unusual food items you don't see often elsewhere.
