The RnR marathon is this Sunday so many of the downtown/north toward the zoo area will be closed to traffic. Here is a list of the street closures.

I will be cheering on the participants, and have done so each year since it started. I always stake out a spot right around mile 5 or 6 when it comes through Monte Vista. A slight course change this year means it is bypassing the spot I've been at the last two years. Haven't quite decided where my exact spot will be this year, but I'll work that out by Sunday. Have a great run you guys!

How did everyone do? That warm weather was brutal - the faces of the runners looked more miserable than normal this year. Lots of walking sooner in the race than normal also. Could have been caused by those hills near Trinity and going into Monte Vista (my cheering spot was on Summit just past McCullough in the second half of that long uphill stretch). Lots of exhaustion in the participants in that part. The rest of the course should have been much easier after the left turn at the top of the hill. Surely, though, that warm weather was a large contributor. It was warm even just standing around, I can't imagine what it was like to run in that in November.

I didn't think that those hills were too terrible. I wanted to drop near Main and 35. The heat and humidity didn't get me until after the race finished. I did manage to PR by a few seconds from my last race so that was a plus.

I want to thank all of the great SA residents who came down to watch the race or popped outside of their houses and cheered all of the participants for the 2014 Rock 'n Roll Marathon and Half Marathon. This was my first half marathon and all of the supporters who were cheering us on (all 20,000 or so of us) really did help. So proud to say that I -- who weighed 334 pounds in 2011 -- actually completed a half marathon!!!
